The project included 10 state of the art operating rooms, 64 private ICU rooms, and support areas including a new helipad capable of holding Marine One.
The Boro – Tyson’s Corner
The Challenge:
This was a “fast track” project with an aggressive Substantial Completion date. Additionally, the site was shared with another General Contractor which created logistical challenges for the project.
Our Solution:
Aegis implemented Bi-Weekly updates and continually reviewed the schedule to implement changes to the program to overcome the logistical challenges.
National Geospatial Intelligence Agency
Aegis Project Controls provided CPM scheduling services for the construction of 2.4 million square feet of administrative and support space including a central utility plant, technology center, visitor center, main administrative building, infrastructure and site work. Aegis’ services included schedule development and management, payment application services, earned value management, and risk mitigation. Aegis provided a full-time staff for the duration of the project.
John’s Hopkins Baltimore
Aegis provided scheduling and dispute resolution services for Whiting-Turner as they built a series of projects for John’s Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. These projects included the renovation of the 9 story Nelson/Harvey building in downtown Baltimore, which was awarded the ACI excellence award, and the new Pediatric Center at the Hopkins Bayview Campus. Both projects had to plan and schedule around active patient care facilities, live utility relocations, and unknown subsurface conditions.
Penn State – Chemical & Biomedical Engineering Building
Aegis has been retained by Barton Malow Construction to provide project controls services for the new $150 million College of Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering building at Penn State University. This 194,500 square foot facility will house new faculty, staff and administration offices, specialized chemical laboratories and collaborative student spaces.
LAX – Midfield Satellite Concourse
The Challenge:
We have to do a complete renovation and reconstruction of a major terminal in one of the busiest, most congested airports in the world. All of this work happens in conjunction with an array of other projects including nearly $6 billion dollars worth of work that is a part of the LAX LAMP (Land-Access-Modernization-Program)
Our Solution:
We had to work diligently with the general contractors, subcontractors, LAX, the designers, neighboring projects, and an array of other stakeholders to plan and execute the work. This plan had to be diligently updated and maintained to ensure the plan took all of the necessary aspects of construction into account and that all stakeholders were kept informed as to the current plan.
National Museum of the United States Army
Aegis implemented a weekly scheduling and coordination meeting with the subcontractors. Critical items were reviewed with the subcontractor live which resulted in the subcontractors taking ownership of the work which in turn is the helping the project trend to an early completion.
Prettyboy Reservoir Dam Gatehouse Facility
The Challenge:
The project faced multiple procurement issues which pushed the project from the summer months into the winter months. During this time frame the dam froze which prevented W-T from accessing the isolation valves.
Our Solution:
Aegis was able to assist the team by developing time impact analysis which resulted in multiple time extensions to the project.
Intelligence Community Campus – Bethesda
Aegis Project Controls provided full project controls services for this $300 million campus type project located in Bethesda, Maryland. This project included the construction of a four-story Centrum and renovation of the existing buildings. This campus will eventually house 3,000 intelligence workers in over 660,000 square feet.
City Center DC
The Challenge:
Develop a comprehensive construction plan for over 2 million square feet of high-end residential, office and retail space. The project included six towers on a shared concrete podium and included the completion of 10th street through the middle of the site.
Our Solution:
Aegis provided our full range of core services from the initiation of the project through completion. We were critical in determining the standards that kept this massively complex project on time.
